Fall 2008 Schoenbrodt Honors Events

Remember, as part of your Honors requirement, you must attend one Honors related event each semester. Here are the events we have planned for you this fall:

September

Featured Speaker: Dr. Nancy Paltell

The English/World Languages Division and the Science/Technology Division are co-sponsoring an exciting event for students and faculty. The speaker, Dr. Nancy Paltell, will conduct an interactive lecture, “The Moral and Scientific Aspects of Embryonic and Adult (Non-Embyronic) Stem Cell Research”, on Tuesday, September 23rd from 12:45-1:45 in RCF 400.

The session should be appealing to student and faculty in the areas of medicine, science, law, ethics and/or religion. This event is free to all students on campus.

Constitution Day

Thursday, September 25 at the Galleria from 12:30-2
Want to know more about the document that established our government? What about election issues that intersect with your constitutional rights? Come and find out! This event is free to all students on campus.

October

About the play: In his tightly guarded command post, the head of our national security is challenged by an idealistic young writer while the fate of a popular leftist leader, now returning to Central America, hangs in the balance.

Who can go?
The first 8 students who RSVP to Rmay@howardcc.edu or 410-772-4195 will receive a free ticket to the show.

November

Annual Skywatch Event and Lecture

November 6th - more details TBA

The OxFam Hunger Fast

Thursday, November 20th from 11:30-2pm in the lobby of the RCF building. Unique and memorable, an Oxfam America Hunger Fast event allows us to pause and reflect on how our decisions affect others in the world. After an Oxfam America Hunger Fast, participants leave with a greater understanding of the problems of hunger and poverty and will hopefully be motivated to do something about them.
